Are you a travel fanatic? If the answer is yes, then here are the top 10 travel destinations you should consider visiting this year and a few reasons why.

Colombia: a place you just have to visit, with its plenty of momentum, friendly people, Colombia has a natural beauty and a country that is fun and safe to explore.

The coastal Caribbean city of Cartagena has great tourist infrastructure mixed with its colonial architecture and history. All the major cities here have fairly large International airports, and flights are often easier and cheaper.

Panama: when you mention Panama, what comes in the mind is canal. While you may not hear much about it, this country has lots of tourists’ attraction sites than canals only. Panama has a little bit of everything to offer travelers from the lush jungle highlands to excellent surf ad beaches on the pacific side. Add the mix friendly people with diverse and rich culture and you have yourself an equation for a perfect destination.

Cambodia: Siem Reap is just a bit south of Bangkok and it offers a far more authentic and less slick look into the culture while still having well developed infrastructure. One of the benefits here is Angkor Wat temple complex, most visitors use it as a staging area for their time.

Argentina: Bariloche in Argentina is a city jammed with winter and summer activities. Its stunning scenery in almost all directions makes it popular among those touring different places in the region.

Australia: the island of Tasmania in Australia though it’s a small state is enough to keep most travelers occupied for the entire trip, with its incredible landscapes, national parks, nature reserves and world heritage sites are just but a few great options to fill your days in Australia.

Bangladesh: This is definitely a place worth to look for when travelling to Asia. The capital city Dakar is the obvious place to start with, the people here are welcoming and friendly. The port city of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar the worlds longest beach are some of the must go places in Bangladesh.

Italy: travelers need not to be told to go to Italy, but many people need to be told about the many big Italian Island besides Sicily. Sardinia is one of them; it has long been a vacation destination for Italians. It’s a haven for anyone who loves the outdoors.
Senegal- If you are looking to explore the real Africa you should consider visiting Senegal as your entry point. Its fascinating and easily accessible culture makes it a safe place to be.

Germany: fun loving? Berlin in Germany is fairly filled with interesting and amazing new tourist attraction. It has plenty going for including a feel that is somewhat exotic compared to some other countries.

Syria: Damascus in Syria is one place where you can feel like you are truly stepping back in time. It is the oldest city in the world but this part of the city looks, smells and sounds like it did long ago. It’s full of history and credibly affordable.

So every one, 2009 is the year of travelling to your destination go for it!

If you are looking for a European tourist destination, consider the island of Sicily, a region of southern Italy. Depending on your interests, this beautiful area can be an ideal vacation spot. You’ve planned for weeks and months and now your dream to travel Italy is almost a reality. Here are a few helpful pointers to help make your adventures go more smoothly.

http://www.right-travel.com/index.php

Italy, a real treasure chest of culture and heritage – with Italy food, Italy wine, Italy culture and Italy history, is always on the top of a European tour list. A tour to Italy would not be complete without going to Florence. This city is in the heart of Tuscany and is sometimes considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. It is a place that is famous for its abundance of fine art and architecture and in the modern day, its fashion and leather goods.

In general the weather is very hot and steaming in the dead of the summer. We recommend that you wear light clothing. Be sure to have sunglasses, hat and sunblock, as they are essential. Afternoon thunderstorms (brief) are common in Rome and inland cities, so you may want to consider bringing an umbrella. The most romantic wedding traditions from around the word: Italy, Spain & Egypt

If you are feeling a little tired out after a few days of sightseeing in Florence, a Florence hills tour can be a great way to relax and wind down. With a great ambience and an aura of solitude the hills of Florence are very popular and ideal for those who wish to take a break from the city.

If you only have a few hours to spare and don’t want to venture too far from Florence, then a trip to the town of Fiesole is highly recommended. Set amongst the hills, just 5 miles from Florence, Fiesole makes a pleasant half-day trip from Florence and provides a wonderful view of the city. You can get there by bus from the centre of Florence in around 20 minutes.

If you have a full day to spare there are numerous tour companies that can organise day trips by bus, walking tours or biking trips. On the other hand you can hire a car and use a map to discover the delight of the Tuscan countryside for yourself.

A guided walking tour of the Florence hills will provide you with an insider’s view of Florence & Tuscany – you can discover the hidden treasures and learn of great legends and stories, giving you a more intimate experience of the region of Tuscany. A walk through the Florence hills is invigorating and you can soak up the beauty of the surroundings as you breathe in the fresh air and bask in the warm sun. You’ll also find plenty of photo opportunities as you pass by churches, castles, hill top towns and villages, olive trees and vineyards

1 The Uffizi Gallery Tip

1 The Uffizi Gallery Tip

The Uffizi Gallery contains some of the most important and greatest art collections in the world. It is also the world’s oldest museum. Most tour guide books and online travel sites will urge you to ensure that a visit to the Uffiizi is included as part of any Florence vacation, no matter how short. What most of them fail to tell you, or at least stress with sufficient emphasis, is that without a pre-booked ticket, you may not be able to visit the Uffizi at all!

My wife and I had a three day holiday in Florence at the beginning of April 2005. We had planned on visiting the Uffizi Gallery and as soon as we checked in at our hotel we telephoned the gallery to purchase tickets. After several attempts without our calls being answered, we asked the hotel reception to do the booking for us. They explained that it was nearly always difficult to get through on the booking line and that our three day stay might not provide sufficient notice to make a booking possible. Despite this, the hotel staff were most happy to keep trying whilst we enjoyed the other wonders of Florence. We decided to check out the situation for ourselves the next day but discovered queues that hardly seemed to move, stretching for an enormous distance around the area of the Uffizi. Queuing all day was certainly not the way we wanted to spend our time in Florence, so we decided to leave things in the capable hands of the reception staff whilst we enjoyed the other attractions that we had come to see. The following evening, we were informed that after many fruitless attempts at getting through on the booking line, success had finally been achieved but only to receive information that all tickets were sold for the following day. We consequently missed out on seeing many of Florence’s greatest art treasures and our top travel tip for anyone visiting Florence on a short stay vacation is to book tickets for the Uffizi Gallery online some time before their holiday.
2 The Inside Tip for the Duomo

Another of the wonders of Florence not to be missed is the Duomo. Actually, it is impossible to miss this magnificent building because it dominates the city and can be seen from virtually everywhere. Savour the views of it whilst enjoying a coffee at one of the cafes in the surrounding piazza. Walk around it, pausing every now and then to appreciate it from every aspect. View it from more distant, elevated, positions around the city. This was once the largest cathedral in the world and even now, nearly six hundred years after it was built, it is the fourth largest. Florence always insisted on everything being the biggest and the best but what really makes the Duomo unique is its dome or “Cupola”. When Fillipo Brunelleschi undertook this masterpiece of renaissance architecture, no one believed that such a dome was possible. The secret had been lost for over a thousand years but Brunelleschi travelled to Rome to unravel it by examining the dome of the ancient Pantheon.

My tip for the Duomo is to ascend this incredible feat of engineering. You can do so by entering a stairway that leads up inside the dome, between its inner and outer shells. When you reach the top, you can step outside onto an external gallery that provides magnificent views of the city and the surrounding Tuscan countryside. This gallery was never finished however, so your views are restricted to northerly and westerly directions.
3 Palazzo Vecchio – David’s Copy Tip

Perhaps the next most famous landmark of Florence is the Palazzo Vecchio. Once again, it is a building worth enjoying from every aspect on the outside before entering to explore its fascinating, art filled, interior.

My tip for the Palazzo Vecchio is to spare a few minutes looking at the pollution-streaked COPY of the world’s most famous statue, realizing that although the original Michelangelo’s David is safely inside the Accademia, the copy is standing just where the original once stood.
4 River Arno Cross Over Tip

This tip is to retreat from the busiest tourist attractions of the city centre and to cross the Arno river via the Ponte Vecchio. The crowds on this wonderful, historic bridge will probably be even more tightly packed than in the central Piazzas you have just left but within a hundred metres of the other side, they will have thinned out and you can explore the delights of the Boboli gardens and the Palazzo Pitti before walking up the meandering paths to the Piazzo Michelangelo which stands on a beautiful hill overlooking Florence and its surrounds.
5 A final Florence travel tip – Avoiding “Stendhal Sydrome”

Florence has so much beauty that every year, there are a few tourists who have to be treated at local hospitals for a condition known as “Stendhal Syndrome”. Symptoms range from feeling faint to complete exhaustion. Stendhal was a French tourist whose nineteenth century tour of Florence overloaded his senses so much that he collapsed with these symptoms.

My final travel tip for a short vacation in Florence is not to try to pack too much in. Even if Florence’s wealth of art treasures, beauty, and architectural achievements don’t actually send you running for medical help, they can easily overwhelm a tourist who fails to heed this advice.

Rome in winter is no less interesting than in summer. Besides there’s no sticky heat which is a characteristic feature of the summer Rome. When chilly outside it’s much nicer to drop in at a café and have a cup of hot chocolate!

After reading several guide-books a head is in a muddle: the Colosseum, the Pantheon, Piazza Venezia…But the experienced travelers and Rome-admirers say it’s better to get acquainted with the city leisurely, step by step looking round Rome.

Firstly, one should find a green information booth and to take a city map. Secondly, it’s a good idea to get on the tram #3 or #8. They circle round the city so you have a chance to see the whole Rome through the glass windows.

The tram will surely pass the Colosseum and after its examination you can turn to Fori Imperiali and take photos. The street is famous due to several reasons: 1) this is the longest archaeological area in the world. The ancient market, Trajan’s Column and other sights are situated here 2) The street is located between Piazza Venezia, the Colosseum, Arch Of Constantine and the Capitoline Hill 3) this street hosts military parades and concerts of the famous bands and singers like Elton John and Paul McCartney.

Then you can go any way you like – Rome is rich in churches, fountains, squares, hills, museums, streets and small shops. If you go from Navona Square towards the Pantheon, you’ll pass a modern dwelling house standing over the ancient ruins. This is real Rome – the complete mutual understanding and interpenetration of history and modern life.

Squares in Rome are at every step. Most of them are overcrowded although there are small squares which are not so popular with the tourists. The Minco Square, a part of the Coppede Quarter, is one of such squares. Fountains, arches and Art Nouveau buildings – this Rome is worth seeing!

No less interesting is the historical area around Rome called Campo del Fiori. Narrow lanes, arches, endless stores with different goods, salespeople with barrows full of vegetables, vintage salons rub shoulders with luxurious Renaissance palaces and linen on the ropes… the sceneries one will never forget!

About spiritual traditions of the city remind the magnificent Vatican. Bear in mind that it is allowed to stroll through its gardens only with a guide. Go round the elliptic Saint Peter’s Square and then go upstairs its dome, buy a card and send it by post, which is situated right here. The card will be posted with a Vatican stamp.

Then go to the Argentina Square where a kind of cat shelter is situated. They live among the ancient ruins in the close territory. There is a shop which sells “cat” souvenirs. The most popular of them is a stone from the Tiber with a cat image on it. It is believed to bring luck. For other souvenirs go to the flea market located 10 minutes away from the “Pyramide” metro station. Keep alert – Rome is famous for the pickpockets.

And don’t forget to enjoy the sunset in Rome strolling along the Circus Massimo: the sun floods the ancient ruins of the Palatine Hill opposite the circus.

There are a lot of monuments that we can admire going on a few days trip to Rome. Once in a lifetime even a short travel to Rome is obligatory.

If you have never been in the Eternal City, the advice is absolutely to start booking a room in one Rome hotel, so to be able to admire with your own eyes so many architectural beauties to leave breathless. In this section we will talk about the seven hills of Rome, one of the characteristics and one of the most famous tradition of this wonderful city.

According to the tradition, Rome was built on seven hills, all located East of the River Tiber. These seven hills would represent so the heart of the city. The seven hill are the Aventine, the Capitoline, the Caelian, the Esquiline, the Palatine, the Quirinal and the Viminal hill. These hills did have a very important role on the ancient roman mythology, religion and politics.
According to the tradition, Roma was founded by Romulus on the Palatine hill. In fact, right on the top and on the foot of this hill several finds have been found, these finds could be dated back to the age of the first urban settlements. This finds can be also easily admired at the Palatine hill museum, for whoever wants to sleep in Rome for some days.

The Palatine hill area turned out to be inhabited since the I millennium B.C. At the beginning there was just a small village, all surrounded by wetlands. This first urban agglomerate stayed almost unchanged for a couple of centuries, it was the so-called “Roma Quadrata” (Rome square), because of the roughly rhomboid shape of the top of the hill it was located on. The expansion, in the VIII century A.D, of the original unit and the fusion with some tribes located nearby originated that city on the seven hills, however they were not the traditionally known seven hills, but just some minor heights, that are the two of Palatine hill, the Caelian and the Velian, and the three Esquiline west heights.

Only from the IV century A.D., thanks to the building of the walls, built under the reign of king Servius Tullius, an expanded city was enclosed, that contained also the other hills, that means the traditional seven hills.

Seven is a recurrent number in the ancient roman mythology. The Latin terms Septimontium (that means seven hills) was used by the ancient Romans to celebrate a religious festival in the area of the seven hills, that would be exactly the area of Rome. From the ancient time, this special festival, related to the seven hills, was created, it seems, by Numa Pompilius, the second king of Rome after Romulus. This festival in practice was a long procession along the seven hills with sacrifices to celebrate the 27 Argei’s sepulchers, that were on those hills. According to the tradition, the Argei were the heroic Greek princes who, arrived in Lazio following Hercules, would have conquered the hills on which Rome would have been built from the Sicels and the Liguri populations.

These are just some of the stories and legends you could live fist hand, if you will decide to spend a few days in some nice Rome apartments. Rome is a wonderful city, at every step you could find some incredible monuments and some past traces. Histories and legends on this Eternal City are countless, from its foundation up to our days, Rome has always been a magic city, in which everything can happen.
